So! I'm spending my time these days in Solasmancing hell! Ha ha ha! Ha! Ha....
Anyway! I wanted to make myself a version of Solas's jawbone from Dragon Age: Inquisition pendant to wear as a little necklace. This is not that version - it's way too big and I did it more as a study, and to test whether I could sculpt that shape accurately at all, tint resin and make a mold from a complicated 3-D shape and have it turn out looking like anything.
So, this is the result! I sculpted an original in clay, slowly created a latex mold, tinted some resin with oil pigment, and this is what came out. It's a little too dark, I think, which was a surprise because I honestly expected the pigment not to go as opaque as it did... so color me surprised! Since the mold and the original are still in fine shape I suppose there's nothing stopping me from making more and tweaking the color a bit.
I've also started sculpting a teeny version that's about 2" - that's more what my endgame is for this project. Fingers crossed!Tumblr post
for this object, if you're the reblorbing sort.
